Assistance Needed – IBTC Transfer to Ledger Cold Wallet (Pre-Ledger Support Warning)

Hello Interlay team,

I’m reaching out because I need help with an issue regarding an IBTC transfer I made from my hot wallet to my cold (Ledger) wallet before the warning message appeared stating that Ledger is not supported on Interlay.

Since then, my funds have been stuck and I haven’t been able to access them. I’ve already spoken with several Polkadot developers, and they suggested that a possible solution could involve submitting a force_transfer transaction.

Could you please confirm whether this action should be submitted through governance, or if there’s another recommended process to recover my IBTC safely?

Any guidance or technical assistance would be greatly appreciated, as these funds have been locked for quite some time.

Thank you very much for your help and for the work you do for the Interlay community.

Hello,

The Phantom Interlay team won't respond; they're too focused on their Bob project.

I think your best solution is to enter the passphrase of your Ledger cold wallet into an application like Nova Wallet to retrieve your IBTC. If it doesn't work with your Ledger, it will work with Nova Wallet. Then send or swap your IBTC.

Are you sure the generic app does not work for your ibtc?
Are they on the interlay parachain?

I had several Ledger situations that I managed to overcome in this 2 ways:

  • Use ledger with talisman instead of with polkadothjs extension fixed issue with hydration.
  • Once Acala stopped updating its Ledger app, I managed to move funds around by setting up a non ledger account as a proxy to the ledger account. I guess that transaction I managed to sign, while other more parachain specific did not work. You could try setting up a proxy on your iBTC cold account on interlay parachain via Polkadot JS apps with generic ledger app. did you try that?
