In summary, we were recently alerted to several critical bugs related to the parsing of Bitcoin transactions. The most serious attack identified could allow an invalid fraud proof to liquidate any Vault in the system. After reviewing the core protocol, we recommended removing theft reporting.
Formal discussion and decision on theft reporting will be made on Kintsugi. Depending on the results of this vote, we can adjust the Interlay runtime in a subsequent release.

Interlay has released a new version of iBTC Vaults called 1.18.0. This is an important upgrade that is required for the production deployment of iBTC Vaults. The new version has some major additions and changes since the last release, including individual secure thresholds and vault account recovery. The most significant change is the removal of theft reporting, which was done to address critical bugs related to the parsing of Bitcoin transactions. A formal discussion and decision on theft reporting will be made on Kintsugi. The Technical Committee has requested a fast-track for this upgrade.
